JOHN AND KARI
Wedding Reception
July 24, 2010
Boulder Ridge Country Club - Wedding Pavillon

The best way to start this blog is what happened at the end of this wedding when the groom came up to me and said that he knew after talking with me on the phone that I was the perfect DJ for the job...no need to look any further. I, of course, blushed but what a delightful thing to hear.

The wedding was held at the new wedding pavillon at the Boulder Ridge Country Club under the professional supervision of Lisa Nunes. The venue was new for me and I did a site visit a week before to make sure I knew the location and logistics. The bride and groom said the feedback from guests was nothing but positive. High marks on the venue, food and entertainment. When vendors do their job the clients can simply enjoy their event.

Musical Highlights:
Bridal Party Entrance - I Gotta Feeling (Black Eyed Peas)
Bride and Groom Entrance - Get Ready For This (Two Unlimited)
First Dance - Tea For Two (Pink Martini)
Father/Daughter - Daddy's Little Girl (Al Martino)
Good Luck Dance - You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You (Dean Martin)
Opener - Boogie Shoes (KC and the Sunshine Band)
Cake - Sweet Nothin's (Brenda Lee)
Garter - Oh Yeah (Yello)
Anniversary Dance – Always (Patsy Cline)
Last Slow Dance - Tonight I Celebrate My Love (Peabo Bryson and Roberta Flack)
Last Fast Dance - You're The First The Last My Everything (Barry White)

Congratulations!

Hi Mike,
Happy Monday!

Wanted to let you know that the bride, groom, the father of the bride (Art) and mother of groom (Melissa) were all thrilled with everything about the wedding and specifically mentioned what a great job you did for them.

I have to tell you Mike, I feel very confident in recommending you to anyone and appreciate what a great job you do, your attention to detail and the extra effort that you put into every event!

I did not realize that you show up at the rehearsal. Is that standard in your service? Great selling tool for me to promote you as a DJ! Laura also said that you are an absolute pleasure to work with. She's a tough critic so I always trust her opinion :)

Have a great week!

CHRIS AND KRISTEN
Wedding Ceremony and Reception
September 6, 2009
Cinnabar Hills Golf Club

The most accurate phrase to describe Chris and Kristen's wedding event is that it simply doesn't get better. The ceremony went off without a hitch and Sarah Hermanson provided her exceptional vocal talents and sang 'When You Say Nothing At All' and 'The Prayer' to add to the experience.

The entire event ran very smoothly. No coaxing to get guests to dance. Played primarily late seventies, eighties and hip hop...a very high energy crowd. I'm sure we could have gone for a few more hours. It was great working with Brittney Wilson and her very talented crew at Cinnabar.

Musical Highlights:

 Entrance: Signed, Sealed, Delivered (S.Wonder)
First Dance: Everything (M.Buble)
Father Daughter: Way You Look Tonight (F.Sinatra)
Mother Son: What A Wonderful World (L.Armstrong)
Cake: Sugar Sugar (Archies)
Bouquet: Single Ladies (Beyonce)
Garter: Love Machine (Miracles)

Chris and Kristen had a Grand Exit as they left Cinnabar. Congratulations and thanks.

Mates and Dates Ballroom Dancers - 9/11/2009 12/1/2009

MATES AND DATES
Dinner-Dance
September 11, 2009
Masonic Hall - Mountain View

One thing I love about being a mobile DJ is the diversity of events that I do. Case in point is this group of ballroom dancers. The challenge of getting people to dance doesn't exist...some of them are dancing before dinner starts.
I hate to admit that my dance skills hover around zero and the saving grace for me is the knowledge I have about what music to play for specific dances. I watch in awe as these people glide across the dance floor. One of the guidelines for the dancers is that I stop the music after each song and announce what dance is coming up next. It's not uncommon to get applause in-between songs. How wonderful is that! They've let me know that they will be booking me for three events in 2010. That makes me happy!

Class Of 1964 Reunion - 9/12/2009 12/1/2009

W.C. OVERFELT HIGH SCHOOL
Class Reunion - 1964
September 12, 2009
The Villages - San Jose

I recently did a Class of 1969 and was a little surprised that the highly preferred music was late eighties...must have played 5-6 Michael Jackson songs. A few weeks prior to that I did a Class of 1959 and it was like a fifties sock hop and that's what I expected. I wasn't quite sure what direction to go for the Class of '64. Much to my delight we were all over the map musically. I stepped into a more active roll and organized the stroll and then jumped 20 years forward to YMCA followed by the electric slide. Also did some Latin stuff and took requests. This was a pretty small group of about 40 people and as class reunions go there was a lot of chatting. Everyone had a good time and got a lot of compliments. :)

It was great working with Albert Salcido and his staff at the Villages. Very tasty food!

Members Halloween Party - 10/25/2009 12/1/2009

ANNUAL HALLOWEEN PARTY
Dinner-Magic Show-Dancing
10/28/2009
Saratoga Country Club

This is the seventh year I have provided mobile DJ entertainment at this annual event at the Saratoga Country Club. The focus of the event is of course the kids who were all decked out in their finest Halloween attire. The first year I did the event was attended by only a handful of people...this year we topped 200+. It's a total Halloween extravaganza with the room impeccably decorated by Linda Thibeault and the staff at the club. I, of course, played all the Halloween classics including the Monster Mash with sound effects of thunder and screams...the kids loved it. Part of the entertainment was provided by Magic Mike.

After the magic show I chimed in with the Chicken Dance, Hokey Pokey, Macarena etc. The kids and their parents had a great time.

Thank You Note From Committee

Hi Mike,

On behalf of the Lowell High School Reunion Committee (Dan, Ron, Bill, Collin, Dinah, Diana, Lizzie and I) want to thank you so much for contributing to the success of our 45th reunion last Saturday night. I know you and I were initially concerned about how many dancers we would have but you really sparked interest with the 'Stroll' and maintained interest throughout the evening with a variety of songs and styles. Additionally, we totally appreciated your pleasant low key manner and willingness to play requests. I'm glad to learn that you and Marc enjoyed sharing your love of music but then I knew you two would! Thank you again Mike and if you need a recommendation in the future please do not hesitate to contact me or other members of the committee.

Sincerely.

Mike is a great event DJ. He is recommended by our wedding venue. Prior to the event, all his communications are clear and timely. His experience helped us select the music and plan our event. During the wedding ceremony and reception, he helped manage the flow of the event and accommodated a few last minute changes and still make the event run smoothly. Highly recommended.

Mike is a fantastic wedding DJ and I would definitely recommend him to others. I wanted a wedding DJ who knew how to survey a crowd and pick appropriate music, and I found that in Mike. I didn't have to pick out every song; he found music appropriate for the old and the young. I also liked Mike because when I hired him, I spoke to him, and not a company salesman. He answered every phone call/email promptly, came prepared to every meeting, and had a huge repertoire of music and could get more.

What impressed me most about Mike was his ability to come up with a plan B after the groom's father and best man had to leave for an emergency. He was able to figure out how to assess the toasting situation and re-organize the order of dances so things made sense. Mike did a great job.
